WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU USE FOR YOUR PAINTINGS?

I mostly paint with oils on stretched canvas, and occassionally on wooden panels or Arches oil paper. All surfaces are gesso’ed, to avoid paint from absorbing into the fabric, wood, or paper.

FRAMING, OR NOT FRAMING OIL PAINTINGS, BOTH ARE OK!

Oil paintings on panels or stretched canvas do not need to be framed, the depth of the stretcher bars (wooden frame) can provide a neat and finished look. But, there’s nothing like a gorgeous, simple frame (I love floater frames) to set off a painting.

  • DIY FRAMING: to frame your oil painting, my favorite simple and elegant frame is the excellent quality Ampersand floater frame, also found on Amazon.

  • CUSTOM FRAMING: Affordable, beautiful custom framing and traditional styles can be found at Framebridge.

WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF YOUR PRINTS?

A limited number of my paintings are reproduced as Giclée prints, professionally printed in the U.S. I personally manage the scanning, color correction, proofing, and printing of all of my prints. This allows me to ensure that all prints are excellent in color and detail quality, for a print that you’ll love having in your art collection.

Prints are reproduced on either paper, or canvas, the paper is a luxuriously thick, 100% cotton Hahnemühle paper, and the canvas is Lyve, both surfaces being some of the finest paper and canvas around, both delivering vibrant color and detail.

Giclée prints don’t fade or start looking dingy like inkjet prints, they are archival-quality, meaning they will stay true for well over 100 years.

CARE GUIDELINES: Never hang any artwork where there is direct sunlight. To clean, use a light swipe of a feather duster over the painting or print, if the print is not framed under UV or museum glass.

FRAMING GICLEE FINE ART PRINTS

I highly encourage a mat and frame for all prints. All of my prints are offered in standard mat and frame sizes to make this easy. A simple mat with a simple frame creates an affordable and elegant solution. White or off-white mats will showcase the artwork vs drawing attention to the mat if a color is used.

Non-glare UV glass is recommended to protect prints, but is not necessary as long as you keep the art clean and out of sun. A clean feather duster works well to dust. Never dust with a cloth, you need the feather weight of a duster.

  • Good quality, wood or metal frames and cut-to-size mats can be found on on Amazon, Blick, or Framebridge. Framebridge will customize your frame to a good degree of detail if you want that. Amazon and Blick also offer excellent, affordable floater frames. Search for Ampersand frames.

  • For affordable custom size mats, I recommend matboard.com.
